This kit is used for quantitative determination of human serum, plasma, whole blood and urine NGAL in vitro. The molecular weight of NGAL is about 25kDa. In normal renal tissues, NGAL is expressed at a low level. When contacting with nephrotoxic substances or ischemic injury occurs, NGAL accumulates in cortical renal tubules, blood and urine. NGAL can be detected in urine and serum 3 hours after injury, obviously earlier than n-acetyl-β-glucosidase (neutrophil gelatinase), β 2-microglobulin and blood Because of the change of creatinine, NGAL is considered as a new predictor of AKI. The correlation between serum NGAL and GFR is good, which can accurately reflect the degree of glomerular filtration function damage. In severe patients and chronic kidney disease complicated with AKI, early and continuous detection of serum or urine NGAL level is of great significance for timely and accurate understanding of the progress of renal function damage and early development of corresponding intervention measures.
